Resurfacing starts on major route into Gloucester
By Sarah Wood | 5th April 2018
Work has begun on resurfacing Over Causeway between Westgate Bridge and Over roundabout in Gloucester.
The county council is investing £400k into the route, which has reached the end of its life.
This is the first scheme of the council's new Tarmac contract and will see crews lay over 3000 tonnes of material along the 900m stretch of road.
To keep disruption to a minimum, the works will be carried out overnight, until Tuesday 24th April (excluding weekends).
Due to the nature of the works and for the safety of road users and workforce, the road will be closed overnight between 7pm and 7am. Limited residential access will be maintained to Westend Parade, Westend Terrace and Alney Terrace throughout.
Diversion routes are in place via St Oswald's Road and the A40.
Punchline says: "We've waited a long time for the road network to be fixed. It's great to see this work taking place, but it's needed all over the county. While £400k may seem like a lot of money, it really is a drop in the pothole."
