Recruitment challenges free event

2022 is presenting all employers with a challenging environment to attract and recruit new employees.

That's why Cheltenham Borough Council, Marketing Cheltenham and the Department of Work and Pensions are holding a free event aimed at tackling the issue in Gloucestershire.

The event on May 23 at Jury's Inn, Cheltenham, is aimed at HR professionals, business owners and other employers.

A packed programme will benefit anybody with the responsibility of recruiting new staff, in one of the most challenging environments employers have ever faced.

It is an opportunity to hear about the jobs market locally and nationally, take a fresh look at the services the Department of Work and Pensions provides and to meet and hear from other local employers.

The event will also have a focus on employing disabled people and why employers that are not already doing so may wish to re-consider, now more than ever.

Provisional programme (subject to change):

  • Employment challenges 2022 - Update on the jobs market, both locally and nationally.
  • Time to take a fresh look at what the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has to offer employers in the current market.
  • Employment Challenges Question Time - With a panel of experts, including representatives from the DWP and local employers. Your chance to learn from these experts and put your questions to them.
  • Andy Lewis MBE - Inspirational guest speaker and retired Paralympian. He is one of Britain's most successful PT2 paratriathletes, winning gold medals at European, world and Paralympic levels. Andy has used his life experiences and adversities to create a powerful message, which is emotional, brutally honest, heartfelt and funny.
  • Why now is the time to consider employing disabled people if you haven't before - Vikki Walters, strategic lead for inclusive employment, Gloucestershire County Council, and a chance to hear from Jamie, who has benefitted first-hand from the Disability Confident programme.
  • Access to Work and what it can do for you - Access to Work is a Government programme that can help both employers and disabled people - Vikki Walters, strategic lead for inclusive employment, Gloucestershire County Council.
  • The employer's perspective - St. James's Place Wealth Management, one of the county's largest employers, on their experiences and approach to recruitment.

Spaces are limited, so reserve your place here asap to avoid disappointment.

Event organisers are grateful to Jury's Inn, which is supporting the event by making its conference facilities available free of charge.
