Ready, steady... Primark Gloucester gears up for Wednesday launch

Shoppers in Gloucester have been treated to a sneak preview of what's to be on offer at the new Primark store in Eastgate Street which opens on Wednesday.

The hoardings and barriers at the former BHS are down and the racks of clothing are clearly visible to passers-by as final preparations take place.

The value fashion store opens its doors at 10am on 8th December.

The new Primark is a larger premises than the previous one and will stock a wider range of clothing and homewares.

A Primark spokesperson told Punchine: "The store will showcase increased retail space and will offer an enhanced shopping experience.

"Customers will be able to shop even more of Primark's famous affordable fashion including the latest seasonal trends, everyday essentials, exciting licensed ranges, along with Primark's growing range of products made using sustainable, recycled, and organic materials."

The retailer is seen as a major pull for the area. Only last week, Shoezone  announced it was moving to Eastgate Street, following shoe retailer A G Meek 's earlier announced relocation to the street. Gloucester City Council  is also planning to move to Eastgate Street.

In July, the retailer, that shuns online sales, announced that several new sales records were set in its stores following reopening on 12th April after lockdown.

The store's parent company AB Foods said sales at Primark, which also has a store in Cheltenham, hit £1.6 billion in the 16 weeks to 19th June.

The figures show that the retailer, which is one of very few without an online operation, is still the darling of the high street.
