Punchline Business and Community Champion: Tom Kerridge helps raise £150,000 for NHS staff
By Rob Freeman | 14th April 2020
Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has joined the ranks of Punchline Business and Community Champions after helping to raise more than £150,000 to help feed NHS workers.
Kerridge, who grew up in Gloucester, is backing the Meals from Marlow initiative, providing kitchen facilities as well as enlisting the help of fellow chefs to cook meals.
The fund, which saw £100,000 raised in 48 hours, will pay for 600 meals a day for NHS staff and the vulnerable in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire during the coronavirus pandemic.
Kerridge runs The Hand And Flowers - the world's only pub with two Michelin stars - and the Michelin-starred The Coach in Marlow, as well as Kerridge's Bar and Grill in Westminster's Corinthia Hotel.
He said: "People realise that as well as looking after our own neighbours, the front line is in the big hospitals where NHS teams are doing astonishing work.
"I know the people of Marlow are a very generous group, but I'm astonished by the speed and the level of kindness."
The 46 year old has been providing practical helpful people at home with a series of Lock Down Dinners on YouTube through his Twitter feed @ChefTomKerridge.
That all means Punchline has named Tom Kerridge as one of its Business and Community Champions.
The Punchline campaign is an initiative backed by the Gloucestershire local enterprise partnership First LEP and the Growth Hub, which runs the county-wide network of business support centres.
The aim of the campaign is to shine the spotlight on some of the great work being done by businesses to help their communities during the pandemic.
Punchline's Business and Community Champion Awards are sponsored by
