Prolific Cheltenham burglar jailed after officers recognise his eyebrows from CCTV footage

A prolific burglar who was recognised by officers from CCTV footage due to his distinctive eyes and eyebrows has been jailed for four years today.
Following a three-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court, 27-year-old Jason Potter was found guilty of committing a burglary on March 27 this year in the Leckhampton area of Cheltenham.
During the burglary two doors were smashed to gain entry to the property and the victims' wallets, iPod and a phone were stolen.
Potter had used a mask in a bid to try and hide his face but Gloucestershire Constabulary officers recognised his distinctive features.
Potter, of Ryecroft Street, Gloucester, received a four-year custodial sentence and will have to pay his victims £500.
Judge Tabor addressed Potter during sentencing and said: "You broke into the property only 17 days after you were released from prison and have no reason to be one of Gloucestershire's most prolific burglars."
Officer in charge of the case, PC Tom Finnikin, of Tewkesbury police station, said: "I am pleased with the sentence passed on Potter today as the community is now protected from him for a significant amount of time.
"The investigation and trial were challenging and I am grateful to PC Matt Rollason and PS Chris Barnes for their assistance throughout the process.
"Burglary is a significant community concern and people who commit these offences do so for selfish personal gain with no regard for the victims who have to endure damage to and invasion of their homes, and loss of valuable and sentimental items so that the burglars can fuel their criminal lifestyle.
"Potter has previous convictions for similar matters and used all of his criminal experience to try to avoid capture on this occasion. Fortunately police officers who knew Potter very well were able to provide evidence to ensure his conviction."
