Profits down at Dunelm

Dunelm saw its sales rise to £835m during the second half of 2022, but profits were down.

Pre-tax profits at the homewares retailer, which has stores in Gloucester and Cheltenham, fell 17% from £140.8m to £117.4m, which Dunelm attributed to strong post-pandemic demand in the previous year and inflationary impacts

The half-year period included three new store openings, including one relocation, and a £17m investment in digitalisation, capability and capacity to support future growth, as reported by Retail Gazette.

As a result, Dunelm still expects its full-year profit to beat forecasts of £176 million, but warned that the consumer outlook remains unpredictable.
