Poundland to sell chilled and frozen food

Poundland is set to muscle in on Lidl and Aldi's action, as it starts to stock chilled and frozen food at more stores.
Nineteen stores, including those in Newcastle, Leicester, Birmingham and Slough, will get the new ranges this month.
Poundland said it will convert up to five stores a week to carry the new ranges during August, taking the total to 60 by early September. It's not yet known if any of the county's stores, in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Cirencester and Stroud, will stock the new ranges.
The first stores started selling frozen and chilled food just before lockdown, following successful trials at selected pilot stores last year.
Stores will also be getting a makeover, as part of the biggest transformation in Poundland's history, which includes the shift from a single price to a simple price retailer. While three quarters of products are still sold at £1, prices from 50p to £5 have allowed Poundland to widen the range of products in health and beauty, household and grocery.
Poundland also plans to convert more stores to its PEP&CO shop-in-shop format, offering a comprehensive range of family fashion in its smaller stores.
