Post Office to reopen in Gloucestershire

A Gloucestershire town will see the return of its Post Office - three months after the old one closed.

The Post Office in Newent closed its doors for the final time on Christmas Eve.

Now work is set to start on a new Post Office for the town at the Spar store, run by local family convenience store business, Pollyphil Family Stores.

Work is set to begin on installing the facilities in March, with a view to opening the new Post Office in late March or early April.

The new Post Office will be available 8am until 8pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday opening hours still to be announced.

Cllr Julia Gooch, local councillor for Newent on Forest of Dean District Council, said: "This is great news for Newent and ends what has been a very uncertain and worrying time for residents and businesses alike."

Pollyphil Family Stores also runs convenience stores in Evesham and Worcester.
