Popular road will close for resurfacing
16th January 2018
A county road will close for several days in February so essential resurfacing work can take place.
Southam Road in Prestbury will be resurfaced from the mini-roundabout where the B4632 meets Noverton Lane and High Street north to Mill Lane.
The route is a popular link between Prestbury and Cleeve Hill, but its surface is now coming to the end of its useful life. The resurfacing is part of the county council's £150 million investment in Gloucestershire's highways.
So that the work can go ahead safely, a road closure will be in place from 5 - 8 February from 9.30am - 3.30pm, staying open during peak times.
Access to properties via Noverton Lane will be closed during work hours. The county council and contractor Amey will be writing to residents with information on how to access their properties during the work.
Cllr John Payne, county councillor for Pittville and Prestbury said: "Southam Road is a key link for Prestbury, so this work to improve its surface is a welcome stage in the county council's scheme of works on the area's major roads."
Diversion Route: If approaching from the north, commuters should follow the diversion along the B4632 to Toddington. At the junction with B4077, turn left and follow the road to the Teddington Hands Roundabout. Turn left along the A435 and head to Cheltenham Racecourse. At the roundabout turn left along the B4075 and continue until you reach the double mini roundabout and turn left back onto the B4632. The route is the same in reverse.
