Popular pub restaurant set for re-launch

A Gloucestershire pub which has been closed for some time is set to re-open with the addition of holiday accommodation.
The Yew Tree Inn at Cliffords Mesne is on the lower slope of Mayhill which is well known to cyclists and walkers.
Now the new owners Meadow Leisure Ltd want to re-open the premises and have applied to Forest of Dean district planners for permission to upgrade the property.
This includes providing two holiday cottages, extended staff accommodation, enlarging the restaurant and better facilities for the disabled using the pub.
In the application to the council for the improvements the owners say it is their intention to upgrade the property to provide a local pub atmosphere with restaurant facilities and holiday letting accommodation.
"The public house has been closed for a period of time. It is understood that the building has been registered as an asset of community value and locals had tried to raise money to purchase it and keep it retained as a public house."
The applicants say they want to provide good reasonably priced food and keep the local pub atmosphere while catering for families and visitors to the area.
They also want to provide an outlet for locally produced beers and ciders.
If the plans are approved, it is intended to re-open the business in time for the influx of visitors for the Cheltenham Festival in March 2019.
