We may be living in harsh times for the hospitality industry, but some business owners do not see it as a time to drop their tools.
Instead they are looking to seize the moment and plan for future growth.
Award-winning family pub The House in the Tree has done just that with its owners submitting a planning application for an extension.
Around 500 years old, the pub is based in Boddington, Gloucestershire, to the west of Cheltenham on the B4634 Old Gloucester Road.
The proposal filed with Tewkesbury Borough Council outlines plans to construct a 527sq ft single-storey orangery to the rear of the main building.
The planning statement explains the expansion is in response to a need for 40 additional restaurant covers as well as a play area.
