Police warning after suspicious incident involving teenage girl
By Bethany Winter | 19th January 2021
Police are warning people in the Cotswolds to be vigilant after reports of a suspicious incident when a teenage girl was approached by a stranger in a car.
The 18-year-old had been walking in the Chipping Campden area shortly before 9pm on Friday 15 January when a black car, possibly a Volkswagen, pulled up beside her.
The driver, who she did not recognise, offered to give her lift. When she refused, the man became aggressive, getting out of the car before returning to the vehicle and driving in the direction of Chipping Campden.
The victim ran off and was able to raise the alarm to another passing vehicle. It is not known at this stage what the driver's intentions were.
Police would like to hear from anyone in the area at the time who saw a black or dark coloured car and its occupants or who has any information that can help police with their enquires.
You can contact officers using the Force's website, quoting incident number 443 of 15 January: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/. Alternatively, you can call 101.
Parents and children are urged to review the stranger danger advice at www.nspcc.org.uk.
