A murder inquiry is under way today after a man was discovered with fatal injuries near a county hospital.

Gloucestershire Police said they were called to Gloucester's Great Western Road just after 5.20pm on Wednesday November 21.

A man was found with serious injuries but later died.

A police spokesperson said: "The victim, whose identity is not yet known, was taken to (nearby) Gloucestershire Royal Hospital by ambulance but pronounced dead a short time later.

"The death is being treated as suspicious and a murder investigation has been launched."
