Police investigate series of burglaries in Barton and Tredworth

Police are investigating a series of break-ins across Barton and Tredworth, including one at a primary school.

There have been 10 reports of burglaries between Wednesday morning (September 1) and Thursday (September 2).

They took place in Millbrook Street, All Saints Road, Pembroke Street, Charles Street, Raglan Street, Carmarthen Street and Napier Street.

A further two took place in Millbrook Street and Sinope Street between Tuesday 24 August and Wednesday 25 August.

Officers believe that the incidents, which involve doors and sheds being smashed, are linked. Inquiries are on-going.

They are now appealing for anyone with CCTV or doorbell camera footage to come forward.

A man from Gloucester has been arrested and is currently in police custody awaiting questioning.

Anyone with information can report it on the Gloucestershire Constabulary website, quoting incident number 286 of 1 September: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/

Alternatively, you can call police on 101.

There are additional steps that you can take to help make your property as secure as possible. These include:

• Shutting and locking windows and doors when you are out.

• Making your house look occupied using lights and radios on a timer and outside lighting.

• Shutting and locking side gates.

• Securing sheds and garages.

• Installing a burglar alarm.
