Police hunt suspect in serious sexual assault

Police are hunting a man who subjected a woman to a serious sexual assault in Gloucester during the early hours of Sunday morning (August 15) and then fled the scene.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage to help them piece together what happened and help track down the attacker

"Police received a report at around 2.20am (Aug 15) that a woman had been sexually assaulted by a man in Wellington Street," said a force spokesperson.

"The incident is believed to have happened at around 2am and is being investigated by officers from the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences team.

"The man involved is described as white with a tanned complexion, aged in his late teens or 20s, and of a slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and a black bodywarmer over the top.

"He fled the scene in the direction of Gloucester Park. The woman was not injured in the incident but is shaken by the ordeal.

"Investigating officers have been reviewing CCTV and taking part in house-to-house enquiries. They are now keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Wellington Street or Park Road between 1.30am and 2.30am.

"Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant CCTV, doorbell camera footage or dashcam footage which could assist the investigation.
