A 19th century house on one of the main roads into Gloucester is set to be transformed into a funeral directors and chapel of rest.
An application for a change of use has been lodged with Gloucester City Council planners to change Peter Scott House on the corner of Heathville Road and London Road.
It has been made by Goodwins Funeral Directors who want to turn the four storey Victorian House into a new base.
Goodwins have been in business in Gloucester since 1883 and currently have their head office on Barton Street.
According to documents submitted to the council, Peter Scott House was used as offices until May of this year, after which it was listed for sale by Ash and Co Chartered Surveyors for £350,000.
The plans show that the ground floor will be used by the funeral directors for a mixture of uses.
There will be two viewing rooms, reception and interview rooms as well as a workshop and coffin store and a mortuary.
The planning application states that three full-time jobs will be created on the site with two other part-time positions also being needed.
The plans are subject to public consultation, with the consultation set to close on December 23 and a decision likely early in the New Year.
