Plans approved for 216 homes near Stonehouse

Housebuilder Vistry Homes has been granted permission by Stroud District Council to build a new housing estate at Grove Lane, Westend.

The new development, which sits west of Stonehouse, will include 103 three-bed, 60 four-bed and 44 two-bed houses. A total of 56 will be allocated as affordable housing.

They will also build six two-bed and three one-bed apartments on the site.

Vistry said they had revised plans for the layout of the development, addressing concerns from planning officers and the parish council.

Changes included the relocation of the apparement block, changes to external design and more homes along the frontage onto Great Oldbury Way.

Jonathan Coombs, an agent acting on behalf of Vistry, told the planning committee on November 15: "Following receipt of the original parish and community objections, we engaged with the parish council who helpfully facilitated a meeting with the chair Cllr Bullock and Cllr Coombs, and 15 to 20 local residents at the site on September 21 to discuss their concerns.

"At this meeting, we tabled a revised layout to address the key concerns of the location for flats opposite existing properties by locating this further within the site."

The revised plans received no further objections.

Planning officers recommended approval for the scheme, with the committee granting permission.
