PCC Gloucestershire roadshow

The new Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire is going on tour.

Chris Nelson has announced dates and venues for a series of countywide roadshows particularly focussed on tackling anti-social behaviour.

Mr Nelson said there is 'a dark side to the county' and he wants the meetings to be a 'two-way conversation'.

The tour takes in seven locations with the first one in Cirencester on 7th September, followed by Gloucester on 20th September.

He said: "I am really looking forward to getting out on the road as communicating with the public, meeting people face to face, is what I like best.

"Consulting with local people who understand their communities better than anyone is an important part of the process, and I am keen to hear their views and hopefully gain their support."

The PCC will be accompanied by Chief Constable Rod Hansen, as he outlines his plan for 'zero tolerance' for anti-social behaviour.

Other initiatives he will be promoting are recruiting people to be a Special or voluntary PCSO and how to get your dog 'DNA protected'.

The list of venues in full is:

• 7th September- Cirencester - Royal Agricultural University

• 20th September- Gloucester - Friendship Café Gloucester

• 21st September- Stroud - Subscription Rooms

• 22nd September- Forest of Dean - Forest Hills Golf Club, Coleford

• 27th September- Moreton-in-Marsh - Moreton Fire College

• 11th October- Cheltenham - The Pavilion

• 13th October- Tewkesbury - Gupshill Manor

Chief Constable Rod Hansen said: "I want to listen to people's views, explain the challenges we face and give a picture of the work we do with other agencies in the county to keep people safe.

"The roadshows will be an opportunity to explain how people can assist us, with the aim to forge closer relationships and inspire people to work with us and each other to tackle issues."

For security and to control numbers, invitations are being sent through the Eventbrite ticketing system.
