Parking changes lead to price cut for bus passengers
23rd June 2017
A bus company has today announced discounted fares to support businesses and their employees following changes to car parking in Cheltenham.
Stagecoach West will be running a discount on Cheltenham Dayriders during August to help those affected by the upcoming parking changes.
Work has already begun to introduce a permit scheme across Cheltenham by August in a bid to reduce congestion.
The scheme is planned for Lansdown, the West end and the Railway station area.
A Cheltenham Dayrider will be available for £3 (usually £3.70) to anyone who buys the ticket through the new Stagecoach Bus App.
Along with mobile tickets, the Stagecoach Bus App offers personalised journey planners and live bus times
Managing director Rupert Cox said: "We are keen to support Cheltenham businesses and their staff. Our customers are already giving us plenty of feedback about the new mobile tickets and how easy it is to buy before you travel. The discount during August will hopefully mean that even more customers give it a try."
Commuters who work for a business that is part of Cheltenham BID (Business Improvement District) qualify for discounts of at least 20 per cent off weekly and monthly bus passes.
Stagecoach West is encouraging businesses that are not a part of Cheltenham BID but are looking to promote the use of bus services, to contact them to discuss possible incentives.
