Online giant Amazon tilts at UK high street

Online giant Amazon has made a bold move into high street retailing with the opening of its first Amazon 4-star store outside of the United States.

The new outlet at the Bluewater shopping centre near Dartford in Kent offers a curated range of products that are rated 4 stars and above, are top sellers, or are trending on the company's website.

It carries products from the top categories across Amazon including consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen and home products.

The shop picks up on some of Amazon's familiar items such as 'Most Wished For' (popular products from 'Wish Lists'), 'Trending in Bluewater' (items local customers are loving), and 'Most Gifted' (top items ordered as gifts).

Andy Jones, director of Amazon 4-star, UK, said: "The Amazon 4-star store is a great place for customers to discover hot new releases, guaranteed page-turners, top-selling electronics, and more.

"Every part of the store is designed with our customers in mind and we think they will be delighted by the curated selection of the most-loved products at great prices, opportunity to test drive Amazon's latest devices, and the convenience of pickup and returns."
