Not in our town! Screen stars back campaign to stop car parking charges

Two famous actors have joined the growing protests over plans to introduce parking charges in Nailsworth.
Emma Samms, who lives in the Cotswolds, and Ben Miller who is a frequent visitor to Nailsworth, have urged Stroud District Council to think again.
Miller is reported to have told anti-parking charges campaigners: "Nailsworth is home to some of the finest independent shops in the Cotswolds. Those shops are facing the toughest trading conditions in living memory.
"What can we do to help? I know, introduce parking charges!"
The Stroud News and Journal reports that Emma Samms is equally critical of the parking charges warning that the unique charm of Nailsworth is under threat.
Stroud District Council has launched a public consultation over its controversial proposals. It claims the scheme would actually help the local economy by increasing the turnover rate of the limited number of spaces available.
But townspeople in Nailsworth appear unconvinced and recently packed a public meeting about the issue. Nailsworth Town Council is strong opposed to the introduction of parking charges saying: "We are committed to fight these plans.
"We believe they are based on flawed evidence; the process is about income, not management. There are no alternative options considered, but most importantly the future of our town is at risk."
Punchline believes the introduction of parking charges would be the final nail in the coffin for traders in Nailsworth who are facing difficult trading conditions like everywhere else in the UK. Stroud district councillors need to listen to the people and scrap this ridiculous plan.
