Night-time closure of busy Gloucester road

A busy Gloucester road is being closed at night for two weeks to allow for resurfacing works.

The B4063 London Road will be closed from 8pm to 7am from last night (Wednesday) until 15 August, excluding weekends.

A Gloucestershire Highways statement said: "We will be resurfacing the road at the above location as part of our promise to invest a further £100 million in the county's roads."

A temporary traffic order is in place for London Road, which means it will be completely closed to non-residential pedestrians and non-emergency vehicles while the work is going on.

The statement added: "We have created an official diversion route which will be signposted and is suitable for all vehicles that would normally use the closed road."

A designated footway has been set up for access to properties.

Emergency services will still be able to use the road.
