WARNING: Night closures for road improvements in Cheltenham town centre

St George's Road in Cheltenham will be resurfaced this month with overnight road closures being put in place.

The work, part of the council's £100 million investment in improving roads in our county, will be carried out in three phases between Monday, March 20, and Wednesday, April 12, with sections of the road closed between 7pm and 7am. The road will not be closed on weekends or bank holidays.

The closures will take place in sections to reduce the disruption as much as possible, however there may be occasions when more than one section is closed for a short period of time. The sections for the work will be:

• Section one - St George's Road from the Bayshill Road junction to the Overton Park Road junction

• Section two - St George's Road from the Overton Park Road junction to the Great Western Terrace junction

• Section three - St George's Road from the Great Western Terrace junction to the B4633 Gloucester Road junction

There will be no access to dead end and one-way roads off St George's Road during work hours on section three of the improvements.

A signposted diversion will be in place throughout the closure.

Cllr Dom Morris, cabinet member responsible for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "This resurfacing work is an important part of our £100 million investment for improving roads in our county.

"I would like to thank residents and businesses within the closure for their patience during this work and apologise for any inconvenience."
