Next to acquire another big name brand?

Next is thought to be in advanced talks to buy another troubled retailer.

A deal to buy vintage-style retailer, Cath Kidston, could be made as early as today (March 28), as reported by Retail Gazette.

Owner Hilco put the brand up for sale last month, just eight months after buying it.

The deal would see Cath Kidston join Next's fast growing portfolio of brands, including Joules and Made.com, which it acquired last year after they went into administration.

Cath Kidston went into administration in April 2020, resulting in the closure of all its stores, including the one in Gloucester Quays. The Cath Kidston store in Cheltenham closed in 2019.

The retailer currently has just four stores of its own.
