The next stage of the transformation of Bakers Quay is getting underway.
Planning permission was granted for the transformation of Bakers Quay back in 2016.
A £60million project to transform the 4.13 acre site between the Quays, St Ann Way and the Gloucester-Sharpness canal has already started.
Apartments in the Provender Warehouse, the new Premier Inn as well as cottages by Cineworld have already been built, but now the next phase is gearing up to go.
Scaffolding is going up alongside the derelict Malthouse - the largest building in the Quay, ahead of the complete overhaul of the building.
Rokeby Developments sign adorn the site, and it is they that have the planning permission to turn the Malthouse into 88 apartments and 11,000 square feet of shared office space.
On their website, Rokeby say: "The Malthouse as technically the most challenging warehouse at Bakers Quay."
They are seeking to transform 100,000 sq ft of existing space, with work to change the levels within the existing structure and repairing rotten timbers.
They add: "The intention will be to create some unique and very individual apartments.
"The ground floor will be converted into shared office co-working space with gymnasium and catering facilities overlooking the tow path and canal.
"Externally, the adjacent listed Transit Shed will be converted into a 3,500 sqft restaurant and terrace overlooking the canal new visitor moorings.
"It is anticipated that work will be complete in summer 2020."
