New tactics employed to boost town centre
14th June 2017
A sporting attempt to attract more families to Cheltenham town centre is approaching kick-off time.
A series of football games, including the SpeedShot Challenge, have been organised by Cheltenham BID to run throughout the summer.
The activities will be set up in Cambray Place in the town centre on the third Saturday of the month, with the first event taking place this Saturday.
The SpeedShot Challenge will allow players to see how fast they can kick a ball, while a second game will give competitors the chance to take on their friends one-on-one in the Panna Football Cage.
BID Director Kevan Blackadder said: "We're keen to encourage more families to come to Cheltenham town centre and think these games will prove popular.
"We had a great response when we held the Street Chilli Fiesta in Cambray Place at the start of June and hope the activities from Streetwise Soccer prove just as popular."
The games will be open from 10am to 4.30pm this Saturday and on July 15, August 19 and September 16.
A BID is a business-led and business-funded body set up to improve a defined area, with the money raised being spent on a range of projects.
Cheltenham BID has pledged to deliver improvements in five key areas: marketing and promotion, town centre events, parking and accessibility, business support and public realm improvements.
