New supermarket to open in Gloucester

The German-owned discount supermarket, Aldi is set to open a new store in Hucclecote in time for the Christmas rush.
The new food store is situated on Hucclecote Road, Hucclecote and will compete against three existing Cooperative food shops along the same stretch of road.
The new Aldi opens on Thursday 15 November and is set to create 40 full-time and part-time jobs for the local area.
It sits on the site of a former Halfords Autocentre, former Allcooper Security offices and a petrol station that was used as a hand car wash. With the old buildings looking tired and dated, they were demolished prior to the new supermarket being constructed.
The development was designed by Robert Limbrick Architects of Gloucester and built by Barnwood Construction.
Aldi already has stores in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Cirencester, and over 700 outlets in the UK, with a target of 1,000 stores by 2022.
