New supermarket to create 40 jobs

After a long battle to win planning Aldi is set to open a new store in Gloucestershire in time for Christmas, bringing a present of scores of jobs to the county.

Adverts for the new business at the Bath Road trading estate in Stroud are already appearing on Aldi Recruitment website.

An Aldi spokesperson said: "We are hoping to open our new Stroud store this Winter and recruitment is already underway for the up to 40 new jobs this will create.

"Anyone who wants to apply for a job at the store can find out more about the roles available at aldirecruitment.co.uk."

The German discount supermarket chain has been battling since 2016 to win permission to build in the Gloucestershire market town, with its first application back in 2016 refused by planners.

The end result was a Government enquiry which eventually saw Stroud District councillors approve the plans, which include parking for 120 cars, in September last year.
