New MD for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West

An industry expert with more than 35 years' experience in the housebuilding sector has joined Barratt David Wilson Homes South West as managing director.

Prior to joining Barratt David Wilson Homes, Ralph Hawkins spent nine years as development director at Barratt Bristol before moving into the position of managing director at Taylor Wimpey Bristol, then Crest Nicholson South West.

Ralph commented: "I am excited to take on the role of divisional managing director and am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to deliver great places to live for our customers.

"Barratt David Wilson Homes - at a group and divisional level - is behind some of the industry's most forward-thinking developments and it's an exciting time to be part of the business.

"The South West division has launched one of the group's most technologically innovative sites - it has made huge strides in the use of air source heat pumps at Delamare Park in Frome which has received positive customer feedback. While rising energy costs are a concern, I'm keen to roll out this green technology on more sites across the region.

"I've also been impressed with the division's commitment to CSR and the amount of volunteering that goes on throughout the business - it's the most I've seen in any company I've worked for and as a volunteer myself, it's something that resonates. I know how worthwhile charity work is and how important it is to give back to the communities where we build.

"While there's no denying how challenging the market is currently, the South West region is well positioned to cope and we'll remain focused on helping those who need to move.

"There's a reason why we're the UK's most recommended housebuilder for the 13th year in a row and I'm committed to continuing to deliver excellent quality and service for our customers."

Russell Glimstead, regional managing director (West Region), Barratt Developments PLC, added: "Ralph brings with him vast land and residential development experience. I know he'll make a tangible difference to the communities where we build and we're thrilled to welcome him to the helm of our South West division."
