New Lufthansa route at Bristol Airport

Lufthansa has strengthened its commitment to Bristol Airport this week (commencing Monday August 2nd) by launching a regular route from Bristol to Frankfurt.

The route provides business travellers with increased opportunity to trade in one of the world's leading financial centres and opens the door for multiple onward connections for leisure travellers. With a vast, global, multi-hub network fares to Frankfurt start from £159 return (including taxes, fees, carrier charges and carry on baggage) and are available to book now at lufthansa.com.

Frankfurt is renowned for its world-class attractions, including the opera house, Goethe Museum and the Deutsches Film Museum; culture seekers in particular can now take advantage of the convenient new services. The Lufthansa service between Bristol and Frankfurt will strengthen the South West's accessibility to German markets.

Heinrich Lange, who has newly taken over as the Lufthansa Group senior director of sales for Northern Europe, said: "We are extremely pleased to announce that Lufthansa will be operating up to four weekly flights from Bristol Airport this summer, and up to seven weekly flights starting in September. We look forward to connecting our passengers in Southwest England with our main Lufthansa hub in Germany.

"As one of the largest carriers in Europe, with just a short stopover in Frankfurt, our customers will have access to hundreds of connections to numerous destinations within our vast, global network,"

The Frankfurt service demonstrates Lufthansa's commitment to the UK market and will provide increased connectivity to long-haul destinations such as Tokyo, Cape Town and Singapore. Supporting the development of tourism and business links between both markets, the service will also create additional employment opportunities.

Dave Lees, CEO of Bristol Airport said: "This is incredibly exciting day for Bristol Airport and the region. Lufthansa is a major global airline and this decision shows confidence in air travel returning to normal. The regular scheduled service between Bristol and Frankfurt opens up a wide range of European and worldwide connections to our customers.

"Frankfurt is a great city whether for business or leisure and the link between Bristol and Frankfurt allows us to promote the South West and Wales region to inbound visitors from Germany and beyond. Today's service is a strong indication of the confidence in the region. We see great potential for this service and will work with Lufthansa on other exciting route opportunities in the future."

Ben Rhodes, CBI South West director, said: "Enhanced international connectivity can open the doors to new trading relationships for South West firms, and prove a key tool for businesses looking to rebuild in the wake of the pandemic.

"Lufthansa services from Bristol Airport to Frankfurt is therefore a welcome move, which can deliver fresh opportunities for ambitious businesses across the region."
