New community centre operator confirmed

An operator has been selected for a Bishop's Cleeve community centre.

Tewkesbury Borough Council has selected Move More as the operator for the new Homelands Community Centre, following a rigorous and competitive tender process.

The process of acquiring the Homelands community building in Bishop's Cleeve from Vistry Homes is now underway. Move More will manage the building to benefit the community from the autumn.

Cllr Alex Hegenbarth, lead member for community and housing, said: "I'm thrilled that Homelands Community Centre will be run by an organisation who have proven operational expertise, robust financial and safety planning and are committed to community impact. I look forward to working with Move More to ensure Homelands Community Centre becomes a vibrant resource that reflects the needs and aspirations of our communities."

Move More, a registered charity working with schools, communities and families to empower children in Gloucestershire and the surrounding area to embrace the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle, submitted a standout bid which emerged as the strongest of the submissions.

The council said the proposal demonstrated thoughtful, inclusive use of the space to benefit a diverse range of community members, aligning closely with its vision Supporting people, strengthening communities, for inclusive and accessible public benefit.

Dan Derrick, chief executive officer of Move More, said: "We're delighted to have been awarded the tender and, following the completion of formal and legal checks, we look forward to welcoming local groups, councillors and community members to an open evening at the facility.

"It will be a fantastic opportunity to explore the space, hear about our future plans and meet the team behind the project. We're excited to make this facility a valuable and accessible resource for the whole community."

Move More's submission met key criteria, including environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and innovation. The organisation also presented a robust business plan, demonstrating clear financial acumen and comprehensive management strategies.
