New factory will create 150 manufacturing jobs for Gloucestershire

The go-ahead has been given for a new manufacturing plant for automotive pressings providing 150 new jobs.

SF Planning, in association with Takenaka Europe GmbH UK, say they are delighted to announce that planning permission has been secured for the new G-TEM factory on one of the long-vacant plots at Gloucester Business Park within Tewkesbury Borough.

A number of the plots at Gloucester Business Park have remained empty for a significant period of time, some since the Business Park was originally granted permission back in 1992.

However, there are now signs of renewed investment and business confidence in the Business Park, with this approval, as well as the new warehouse for TBS Engineering approved last year and now under construction.

The new factory will enable the expansion of a long-standing engineering and manufacturing firm, G-TEM, who have been headquartered at Gloucester Business Park for 20 years. G-TEM is a market-leading manufacturer of high quality automotive pressings and sub-assemblies.

The approved scheme will be located on the opposite side of Hurricane Road to the existing 250,000 sq. ft facility, and will provide an additional 120,000 sq. ft of space initially, with the option to expand further in the future.

The new factory is critical, not only to enable the growth of the business, but also to enhance the productivity of the existing factory at Gloucester Business Park. Furthermore, the expansion plans will allow G-TEM to create up to an additional 150 jobs, on top of the 500 already employed by the company.

The scheme will include all necessary access and parking arrangements for a facility of this scale. In addition a new pedestrian crossing will be provided over Hurricane Road to enable safe access for employees to access both sites.

This approval is seen as a vote of confidence for the manufacturing industry in Gloucestershire.
