New Co-op food store opens

A new Your Co-op Food store opened its doors in Bream on Thursday (June 17), located on Coleford Road, near Lydney.

The store has created 17 jobs for the local area and will offer essential grocery items, from fruit and vegetables and fresh meat to a range of chilled beers, wines and spirits.

Additionally, it will also be home to an in-store bakery, Costa Express coffee machine, Paypoint and National Lottery terminals.

Your Co-op is part of The Midcounties Co-operative which is one of the largest independent UK co-operatives and is fully owned by its members.

Customers at the new store will have the option of becoming a member of the Society, giving them access to exclusive member-only deals as well as special offers from across the Your Co-op group of businesses. Members also have a say in how the Society is run, including the work it does to support local communities in partnership with local volunteers and community groups.

The Bream Lydney store is the third of the Society's new store launches in the Gloucestershire area following the opening of its Bishop's Cleeve and Lydney petrol station stores in April this year.

The new stores are part of the Society's continuing investment for the future, which saw a total of six new food retail store openings in April, May and June with a total investment in food retail of almost £3 million in 2021

Lucy Clist, store manager, said: "We can't wait to open the doors to our new convenience store and meet the local community.

"We're really looking forward to welcoming members and customers and I'm sure they'll be impressed with the wide range of products and services we have on offer."

The stores' opening hours will be 7am to 10pm every day throughout the week.

A Swipe & Win competition will run for two weeks from the opening date, giving customers who are also Midcounties Co-operative members the chance to win their shopping for free.
