New Cheltenham restaurant opening soon

Indian street food chain Mowgli is set to open its doors at the Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham this August.

The 2,660sq ft site will have room for 80 covers, will be the chain's 13th outlet after first opening Liverpool six years ago.

Founder Nisha Katona, a former barrister, was awarded an MBE for her services to the food industry in 2019 and the chain was named in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 the previous year.

She said: "I have always been a fan of Cheltenham-more literary than racing in truth. Seeing some of my hero authors there made Cheltenham nothing less than hallowed ground for me.

"Our food is fresh, light, and delicate- most importantly I still oversee every single dish so your experience is that of dining in my own home; honest, embracing, and very child and dog friendly-however flawed that might be."

Mowgli will support FOCUS, a charitable fund for the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre, as a dedicated house charity and anticipates donating tens of thousands of pounds each year to help the local community.

"To be able to take Mowgli to Cheltenham, to create over 30 jobs, and to find and support a local charity there, makes me so proud and reminds me of why we must keep our strength and chin up and march on. We exist to enrich life in the cities we go to- Cheltenham I hope we make you proud."

Demelsa Coleman, marketing and communications manager at The Brewery Quarter, added: "We cannot wait to welcome Mowgli Indian Street food to our growing family in The Brewery Quarter. There's been such a buzz about them coming - they are the perfect addition to The Brewery Quarter family, broadening our varied cuisine and complimenting the other bars and restaurants nearby.

"Their opening, along with Cornish brand Hub Box opening soon is a fantastic feat for the scheme and once again strengthens our proposition as being a diverse and exciting destination for Gloucestershire."
