New assistant chief fire officer appointed

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) has announced the appointment of Adam Openshaw as its new assistant chief fire officer.

Adam has been with the organisation for nearly 20 years and his previous roles have included area manager, head of response and resilience and head of organisational development and transformation.

His new role as assistant chief fire officer includes acting as a strategic gold commander for operational incidents. He will also be responsible for managing the delivery of GFRS's corporate support functions such as HR, finance, procurement, organisational development and ensuring professional standards are met, while also providing the opportunity to lead the modernisation of the fire and rescue service.

Adam Openshaw, assistant chief fire officer said: "I'm excited to now be taking a leading role for improvement within GFRS and am passionate about transformation.

"As a proud member of GFRS, who has worked in a variety of different roles, I'm looking forward to helping to develop a strong and positive workplace culture, which empowers and supports our staff to deliver the best possible services to the community."

Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member with responsibility for the fire and rescue service, said: "I'm delighted that Adam has been appointed as assistant chief fire officer for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

"He brings a wealth of experience, having worked at Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service for nearly 20 years, and I have no doubt he will play a key role in the continued improvement journey for the service."
