Formally home to Poundland, the unit sits alongside KFC, Sports Direct, Home Bargains and Pets at Home off Bridge Road in the town.

PureGym said in a statement: "The gym will be spread across 10,000 sq. ft. and will cater for everyone's exercise needs with a functional zone, free weights, fixed resistance, high-quality cardio equipment and a range of fitness classes.

Opening on September 14 at 12 noon, the new site is expected to create nine full and part time jobs for the area.
