'My week at Moose provided fantastic insight into world of work'

This past week, I have been given an incredible opportunity to take on a work experience placement at Moose Marketing and PR.

This week at Moose has opened my eyes to the world of work and has definitely exceeded my expectations of what I thought work experience would be like.

I originally thought that work experience would be shadowing employees all day and making cups of coffees, but the range of tasks that Moose has enabled me to experience will most definitely benefit me.

When I arrived on the first day, managing director Mark Owen introduced himself and the rest of the team at Moose.

I was then shown the desk I would be working at for the next five days, thinking I would just be sat here listening in to conversations and meetings between the team.

However, I was completely wrong.

I have been given so many roles and tasks here at Moose, such as managing social media, shooting and editing videos, writing articles for the Punchline magazine, taking photos for promotion, and transcription.

These jobs were just a few of many that I have completed over the week, and once I finished a task there was another one waiting to be completed by me, meaning there was never a dull moment.

I genuinely feel I have been useful to Moose Marketing and PR, which is an amazing feeling knowing that I have been a help to the team.

I have always been interested in businesses, and am hoping to do an apprenticeship, so this work placement has definitely helped me make the decision of the area of business I would like to go into which is marketing and PR.

I have learned about the different ways of marketing and the value of PR, thanks to Mark Owen, taking the time out of his busy schedule to really explain to me what marketing is all about, which has been so beneficial.

I am overwhelmed by the experiences and skills I have gained from this fantastic week.

I would really encourage more businesses to offer work experience to students as not does it only benefit the student but it benefits the company.

I am very thankful for the vast opportunities I have been given and would recommend more students to take on work experience as it is the only way you can gain an insight of what work in the real world is like.
