My Experience Doing Work Experience
29th March 2018
For the last few days instead of hopping on the bus to school I’ve been hopping on the train and doing my work experience with Moose Marketing and PR, publishers of Punchline.Gloucester.com
At first I expected to be considered too young and immature to do any real jobs and, if I wasn’t just making coffee, I anticipated that the overall office day would be rather boring. Fortunately, I was proved completely wrong.
Once I’d arrived, I met the managing director, Mark Owen, and the rest of the team. All of the staff members were extremely welcoming so I settled in easily. I was then allocated my desk and given a variety of jobs to do.
During my time here I did some deliveries of the Punchline business magazine and was pleasantly surprised by the volume of the audience and how friendly all of them were. I also composed photographs for possible future articles, learnt how to use links on social media for trafficking, learnt to use a CMS, been shown how to add Punchline articles and features to the website and wrote and upload some of my own.
These last couple days have really opened my eyes to what the world of work is actually like; it has been incredibly insightful for me and I would love to see more companies taking on young people for work experience, just like moose marketing has done for me, as the opportunity may help them make major decisions about their future careers (and it never hurts to have an extra pair of helping hands around).
It has been hard work but I’ve really enjoyed it and learnt so much so thanks to the whole team at moose marketing.
