More national awards for county music service

Gloucestershire Music has a record three groups attending the finals of a national music festival.

Following the National Concert Band Festival (NCBF) West of England and Wales Regional Festival (held on Sunday 25th November at All Saints Academy), Gloucestershire Music is delighted to announce that the following groups have been selected to perform at the National Festival in April at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM):

  • Brookfield Music Centre Principle Wind Band
  • Brookfield Music Centre Jazz Band
  • Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra (pictured)

The festival will be held on the weekend of 6th and 7th April, with over 40 bands performing from across the UK.

Beccy Busuttil, director of Brookfield Music Centre, said: "I am absolutely thrilled that two of Brookfield Music Centre's bands have been awarded Gold and given the opportunity to progress to National level at NCBF. To be given the chance to perform at the Royal Norther College of Music is truly amazing and inspiring for our students. The students and conductors have worked extremely hard to achieve this invitation - I am completely confident they will rise to the occasion. To represent our county at national level as a weekly music centre is testament to the dedication, musicality and direction of Brookfield Music Centre."

Steven Legge, director of the Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra, said: "It is always a special weekend in Manchester where performers will get the opportunity to listen to other groups from across the UK, meet professional players, visit trade stands and of course perform at the RNCM. The NCBF is a strong benchmark of quality and provides players of all ages an aim to hone their rehearsals and try and produce the very best performance they can. I am delighted that Gloucestershire Music will once again be well represented on the national stage and representing Gloucestershire in such a positive way."
