Montpellier Lodge to re-open

After its sudden closer earlier this year, Montpellier Gardens Lodge located near The Ivy in Cheltenham looks like it could reopen.

Until May the listed building was the home of  restaurant and bar business Montpellier Lodge, which opened in December 2015.

Now it looks like the former park-keeper's house will be getting a new lease of life and being transformed into a coffee shop, Coffee#1.

If the plans go ahead it will ends the uncertainty about the future use of the lodge.

The news was broken when an application was filed with Cheltenham Borough Council for the business's proposed illuminated internal and external signage.

Coffee#1 is a British coffee house chain that originated in Cardiff, Wales in 2001. It now has over 75 outlets across the UK and employs over 300 staff. It already has coffee shops in Gloucester, Stroud, Tewkesbury and Cirencester and is on track to reach one hundred stores by the end of 2018.

No one was available at the business to comment.
