Men released as assault investigation continues

Two men who were arrested in connection with a serious assault in Gloucester on Saturday night (24 February) have been released under investigation.

Gloucestershire police say the men, who are aged 47 and 27, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident which happened outside Cafe Rene in Southgate Street.

It is alleged that just before midnight there was a dispute between people waiting for taxis which resulted in a man being punched in the face.

He suffered facial fractures and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for surgery.

Officers investigating the incident are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.police.uk quoting incident 23 of 25 February.
