Matalan are "outperforming the market"

Matalan have reported a growth in sales and profits for the past financial year with the retailer saying they "were outperforming the market in what remains a tough retail climate."
Revenues rose 3.8 per cent to £1.103 billion, while profits before tax rose from £20million to £30.1 million.
Matalan have 231 stores across the UK and describe themselves as a 'leading out of town fashion and homeware retailer.'
Chief executive Jason Hargreaves said: "The business has performed very well this year, outperforming the market in what remains a tough retail climate.
"In uncertain times we are well position in offering the great design, quality and value that appeals to savvy customers."
He added: "We expect market conditions to continue to be very challenging, and so remain cautious for the year ahead. However, we continue to be focussed on the execution of a strategy that is clearly working."
As well as their 231 UK stores, the group have 32 overseas franchise stores and a growing online presence.
In their results for the year to 52 weeks to February 23, they reported a 31 per cent increase in online sales.
Matalan have stores in the Olympus Centre in Quedgeley and on Swindon Road in Chetlenham.
