MasterChef champion to launch Gloucestershire restaurant
By Andrew Merrell | 17th September 2018
A year on from launching his first fine dining restaurant WOOD Manchester, MasterChef champion Simon Wood has announced his next venture WOODKRAFT.
Based in the centre of Cheltenham, WOODKRAFT will be an artisan eatery bringing Mr Wood's love of seasonal produce and informal dining to the town's thriving cafe culture.
We are told the kitchen will embrace the philosophy of farm to fork working with locally sourced products from small scale local growers and producers.
The menu, which will be developed with the team from WOOD Restaurant Group, will include brunch and breakfast dishes, Sunday roasts to share and more.
Dishes will apparently reflect the basic WOOD principles of made from scratch. Heavily featuring local provincial produce built around artisan food with breads, cheese, local meats, beverages, oils, and vinegars that are made by hand on site or regionally using traditional methods by skilled craftworkers.
Mr Wood said "Opening WOOD Manchester saw the culmination of a lifelong dream for me. It has been a huge challenge but also a great success.
"We're a year in now and with a second fine dining restaurant now under construction in Chester, we feel ready for our next challenge.
"WOOD is all about un-intimidating fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere and WOODKRAFT will take this ethos and turn it into the perfect day time casual dining offering, maintaining high quality food and service.
"My business partners have local connections to Cheltenham and know the market well and we think the town will be the perfect place for WOODKRAFT. We hope the local diners agree."
WOODKRAFT will be situated on Regent Street and will be open daily 9am - 6pm.
