A business which handles high-value jewellery and fine art was been raided by a masked gang last night (January 28).

Five men wearing balaclavas are believed to have been involved in the burglary, which saw they break in to an auction rooms to steal its safe.

Police were called to the Wotton Auction Rooms on Tabernacle Pitch shortly before 7.55pm following reports that offenders had forced entry to the premises.

It was "business as usual" today at the Gloucestershire auction house, which is known for handling "ceramics, glassware, jewellery, clocks and watches, collectables, textiles, silver, metal ware, paintings & fine art, furniture and outside effects".

It is thought the gang left Wotton under Edge in a dark coloured 4x4 vehicle.
