M&S reveals hit list of 100 stores to close

Marks and Spencer staff in Gloucestershire now know if their stores are subject to the axe after the business revealed the list of shops it plans to close in the next four years.
The high street chain has announced it plans to close 100 of its outlets by 2022, marking a speeding up of plans it calls 'vital' to its future.
This new detail - of which stores are to close - is a continuation of plans it began rolling out in November 2016 to move a third of sales on-line and to have fewer large clothing shops and homeware outlets in better locations.
Sacha Berendji, director of retail operations at M&S, told the BBC: "Closing stores isn't easy but it is vital for the future of M&S."
Under the plans - laid down by Archie Norman, who became chairman of M&S chairman last year - the business also said it would be cutting down the number of new Simply Food stores from 40 to 25.
