Mark Cummings' quiz gets book festival off to a flyer

A charity quiz night all about Gloucestershire got Stroud Book Festival off to a flying start.

The Glorious Gloucestershire Quiz Night was hosted by local broadcaster and author Mark Cummings at Stroud Sub Rooms last Wednesday.

The venue was packed out with 120 people squeezed in around 14 tables to take part in the fun quiz.

Mark, who was the popular long-standing presenter of BBC Radio Gloucestershire's breakfast show, delivered an array of puzzling questions on the county and chatted about his new book, Glorious Gloucestershire, described as a 'love letter to the county'.

Proceeds from the event are still being totted up but it is thought to have raised a significant amount for the local Allsorts charity.

The quiz got the core programme of the Stroud Book Festival 2024 underway.

With almost 40 events across the five-day programme, this annual celebration of ideas, stories and community for readers of all ages offered something for everyone.

The festival brought a host of authors across a wide range of genres from fiction to history, politics, travel, nature and the environment.
