Maplin ramps up tech support

Maplin has announced a new partnership with tech repair specialist iSmash as it ramps up its tech support offering for customers.

Concessions in three of Maplin's stores across the UK will be trialled, offering customers a repair service for smartphones, tablets and laptops, as reported by Retail Gazette.

It's thought the technology retailer, which has stores in Cheltenham and Gloucester, is boosting its support arm to rival Dixons Carphone. The company launched its Team Knowhow service earlier this year to offer customers repairs, upgrades and installations.

It's not yet known which Maplin stores will offer the new service from iSmash.

This is the latest in a long line of retailers partnering with service providers to boost their offering. Earlier this year, Ikea took over TaskRabbit, which offers handyman services, including flat pack furniture assembly.
