A man who has been reported numerous times for abusive drunken behaviour in Gloucester has received an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction banning him from causing alarm or distress to anyone in the city.

Jamie Powell, aged 33, was served with the injunction on Friday 12 May following a hearing at Cheltenham and Gloucester County Court.

The case was brought against Powell by 'Solace,' a joint team of officers from Gloucestershire Police, Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council.

A police spokesperson said: "It followed reports that Powell had been verbally abusive, drunk and disorderly in breach of the city's No Alcohol Public Spaces Protection Order." 

The order imposed by the courts forbids him from:

Engaging in conduct that causes or is likely to cause alarm or harassment or distress to any person living in or visiting Gloucester

Using or threatening to use violence towards any person living in or visiting Gloucester

The spokesperson added: "The injunction, which has a power of arrest, will remain in place until 12 May 2024 and breaches can be reported by calling police on 101 or the Solace team on 01452 396396."

Solace Street Aware lead officer Adam Stevens said: "Powell has shown a total disregard for the city's No Alcohol Public Spaces Protection Order. He has continued in his abusive, aggressive and drunken behaviours despite numerous attempts to engage with him.

"This order was sought in an effort to curtail the behaviours and to provide some protection and respite to those working, living in and visiting our city.

"We work with our partners in the police, the city protection officers and City Safe to make it clear that this type of behaviour, which has a negative impact on our city, will not be tolerated."
