Man assaulted on canal path in Stroud

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted by two strangers along the canal in Stroud on Friday night (July 17).

Two men were walking on the path close to WSP Textiles at around 11.40pm when they were approached by two men riding mountain bikes.

One of the pedestrians was verbally abused by the two cyclists, who then kicked him in the legs and punched him repeatedly to the head. As a result, the victim has suffered bruising to his knee and temple, and a cut to the forehead.

The two suspects have cycled off in the direction of Caincross Road.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have CCTV in the area to come forward.
