Man arrested in connection with sexual assaults in Cheltenham

A man was been arrested yesterday afternoon (Thursday 30 July) in connection with incidents of sexual assault in Cheltenham.

Officers from the Response and Neighbourhood Policing teams made the arrest following information provided by the public.

Gloucestershire Constabulary issued a public appeal for information yesterday following two reports of a man sexually assaulting young girls around Cheltenham.

Similar incidents have also been reported since the appeal.

Detective Inspector Jane Harris said: "The case has been pulled together through outstanding team work from all the officers in Cheltenham response and neighbourhood teams.

"These types of crimes are alarming and I would like to thank those who have reported incidents to us, enabling us to take prompt action.

"If you have any information which could help the investigation please call us on 101 and quote incident 270 of 29 July or submit information to us online on our website."
